Chief Technology Officer

About the Role

The part-time Chief Technology Officer role is an integral part of the leadership team, responsible for delivering seamless technology solutions and digital experiences across the business. You will be commercially minded and will rapidly gain a deep understanding of the business to develop and implement technological solutions around automation, efficiency, and security for our Australian and international offices. This part time opportunity would suit a leader who has energy, drive and passion with deep technical knowledge, interested in working 2-3 days per week. Your strong background in service provider management (including CRM, Accounting and, Productivity systems) application development, cyber security and enterprise architecture will ensure your credibility and ultimate success.

Day to day responsibilities:

  • Manage the overall IT environment which includes an integrated combination of business aligned outsourced services and service providers and internally developed systems and team members
  • Develop a deep understanding of ExpertsDirect business and the growth plan in order to effectively develop and deliver the IT strategy with a focus on automation, efficiency and scalability
  • Identify IT challenges and opportunities across the business, creating and implementing effective technological solutions
  • Effectively manage the IT budget and forecast future financial expenditure
  • Continually evaluate existing applications for additional functionality or value, useful for current or future requirements
  • Effectively project manage IT projects, leading the implementation of company approved enterprise systems, application software and installations of network hardware, software and database management
  • Mentor and educate across the business ensuring a strong Digital and IT organization and efficiency
  • Effectively manage relationships with external technology partners to provide continuous improvement to the business systems environment
  • Ensure that security of all IT systems is maintained and continually improved
  • Provide accurate reporting on department and business data
  • Ensure software licensing is compliant and kept up to date

Skills and Experience

  • More than 8 years’ experience within the software development, system implementation and integration
  • Understanding of ITIL based service desks and tools
  • Strong technical knowledge of IT infrastructure, Systems and Processes
  • Tertiary qualifications in Information Technology are desirable
  • Proven track record of success in driving a commercial platform strategy and successfully scaling it
  • Technically savvy in Microsoft 365, HubSpot, SharePoint, Jira, Confluence, WordPress, MYOB
  • Knowledge and understanding of infrastructure providers including AWS, Cloudflare, WPEngine.
  • Knowledge and understanding of application development including LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP), Vue or other JS frameworks, REST and APIs
  • Great presentation skills along with high confidence in engaging with decision-makers
  • Powerful communication and interpersonal skills. Highly articulate via phone, email and in person is a differentiator, along with a positive engaged approach to working collaboratively with internal colleagues and external partners
  • Ability to manage a technical team and interface with non-technical senior management team
  • Experience of managing multiple sites across multiple countries
  • Demonstrated Agile project management experience
  • Experience managing client relationships
  • Well-versed in Legal Industry is preferable or experience in professional services
