Expert Witness Case Manager – Malaysia, Philippines
Careers at ExpertsDirect
About ExpertsDirect
ExpertsDirect is a specialist expert witness firm that connects legal teams worldwide with the right experts for high-stakes litigation. Established in 2013, we are the market leader in Australia and also service clients across Singapore and the UK. We operate at the intersection of law and professional expertise. Our work directly shapes case outcomes, and the people who do it take that seriously.
About the Role
As an Expert Witness Case Manager, you’re the one making that intersection work day to day – coordinating between the litigators running cases and the expert witnesses delivering on them. The expert report you help shepherd into existence isn’t paperwork; for the client, it’s often the piece of evidence the case turns on. Your job is to keep that process on track from briefing through to delivery, landing it on time and within budget, while building trust on both sides to keep matters running smoothly.
This role suits someone naturally good at solving problems as they come up – an expert who’s gone quiet, a deadline tightening, a scope that’s shifted – and who can do it calmly, without escalating every bump in the road. You’ll need to be highly organised, comfortable across diverse and fast-moving matters, and confident managing relationships with both legal and technical stakeholders. A legal background is a strong asset but not a prerequisite.
Key Responsibilities
- Own each case end-to-end, keeping it on track to meet the client's core expectation: on-time delivery within the agreed budget
- Stay closely across case status, direction, and risk at all times — the report itself is the expert's work, but nothing about its progress should catch you by surprise
- Translate client scope, instructions, and priorities into clear milestones for the expert, and monitor progress against them
- Agree fees, scope, and terms with the client upfront — including securing prepayment where required — so each case starts on solid footing
- Solve problems directly as they arise, escalating only when it's genuinely needed
- Partner with the Quality Assurance team to ensure reports meet ExpertsDirect's quality and admissibility standards
- Be the client's trusted point of contact — clear, responsive, and proactive throughout the case
- Flag issues or changes in direction early, so clients are never caught off guard by where a case ends up
- Stay accessible and professional even under pressure or tight deadlines
- Deliver solutions efficiently, so clients stay confident in the process
- Work with the Sourcing team to match clients with the right experts for their case
- Support experts throughout their engagement, adjusting the level of guidance to their experience and working style
- Help experts grow their skill, confidence, and impact as expert witnesses over time
- Help refine working practices and procedures as the team learns and grows
- Share what's working - and what isn't - across the team and wider business
- Bring energy and consistency to a fast-paced, collaborative culture
About You
- Sharp, natural problem-solver - comfortable navigating tricky moments without needing to escalate everything
- Excellent written and verbal communicator, equally at ease with legal and technical audiences
- Meticulous, with a strong eye for detail and accuracy
- Highly organised, able to juggle multiple live cases and shifting priorities at once
- Adaptable, happy moving between unrelated matters and subject areas day to day
- A fast learner who picks up new domains quickly
- Skilled at handling pushback and resolving conflict
- A relationship-builder that clients and experts genuinely trust
- Calm and effective under pressure, including deadline pressure
- Proficient in MS Office and comfortable with general office operations
Experience
- Experience managing high-stakes relationships or technical stakeholders in a professional setting
- Background in law firms or legal operations (as a lawyer or senior paralegal) highly regarded
- Experience working across multicultural, multi-territory teams with international clients
- Experience working with Australian lawyers and/or experts a plus
Qualifications
- Degree in Law, Business, related discipline, or currently completing a law degree (Philippine or international qualifications both welcome)
What's On Offer
- Fully remote, work-from-home position. No commute, no traffic
- Day shift hours aligned to Australian or Singaporean business hours
- Monday to Friday only. Weekends completely off
- Competitive salary package in line with the North Macedonian market (discussed at interview)
- Performance incentives and cash rewards for outstanding contributions
- Comprehensive, structured onboarding with hands-on mentoring from experienced team members, so you’re properly supported and set up for success from day one
- A genuinely close-knit, supportive culture where knowledge is shared openly and the team backs each other on complex briefs
- Quarterly in-person team events and recognition
- Annual leave in line with North Macedonian law, plus 10 additional annual leave days upon reaching 5 years of service
- North Macedonian public holidays observed
- Direct exposure to international leadership and global legal cases
