Our client acted for Katie Taylor, an Australian fashion designer and owner of the ‘Katie Perry’ brand and Australian trade mark for clothes. Ms Taylor filed a lawsuit against the singer, Katy Perry, and her corporate interests, claiming ‘Katy Perry’ branded clothing, including merchandise, infringed her trademark.
An expert was required to comment on two crucial aspects of Ms Taylor’s case:
We provided a Design Expert who was highly qualified in textile design. The expert holds bachelor’s degrees in the fields of Textile Design and Fine Arts (Honours) and a graduate certificate in Tertiary Teaching and Learning.
She had also held a number of key design roles including Design Tasmania’s first Executive Director, Academic and Programs Manager in the School of Fashion and Textiles at RMIT University, and Executive and Academic Operations Manager at LCI Melbourne.
The expert’s extensive experience included organising and curating fashion exhibitions, designing clothing for bespoke projects, and giving advice to designers concerning the market impact of their brands.
